You’ll learn every component of a basic drumset, and how to tune and position them in a practical, comfortable, and natural way. In addition, you’ll learn key factors to be aware of concerning one of the most critical links between the drummer and drumset…the drumsticks. You’ll learn how to select sticks based on sound, balance, and durability as well as straightness, diameter, taper, wood grain, and wood type. All this information is provided to you on this DVD by Tom Frustieri, a graduate of William Paterson University’s prestigious Jazz Studies and Performance program. Tom has been performing and teaching in the New York metropolitan area for over 20 years, as well as touring in support of national and international artists. Tom’s ability to play the diverse styles of rock, funk, R&B, jazz and Latin music has also kept him busy in the recording studio. As an educator, Tom teaches a large roster of private drum students, from beginners to the most advanced. His instruction to beginners emphasizes developing a solid foundation in the rudiments of drumming, while his extensive performance experience provides the advanced student a diverse vision into the art of drumming.
